Kim Dracula Collaborates With Korn’s singer Jonathan and releases and new song “Seventy thorns”
Who’s Kim Dracula you ask?
Well Kim Dracula, is a trap metal/hardcore musician hailing from Hobart, Tasmania, that has gained popularity on TikTok for their music, and I use They/their cause Their gender is still unknown. Samuel Wellings, who goes by the stage name Kim Dracula, is recognized for their original compositions and metal covers of songs that are not typically associated with the genre. Prior to pursuing a solo career, Kim Dracula served as the lead singer of the Australian heavy metal group, Jesterpose.
November 2020, Kim Dracula, the Australian musician, released a TikTok cover of Lady Gaga’s “Paparazzi” in a metal style. The song was made available on Spotify December 11, 2020, and quickly became viral, with six million views on YouTube, thirteen million streams on Spotify, it was also used in over 60,000 TikTok videos by the end of the year.
The popularity of the song led Kim Dracula to become the fourth-most followed Australian TikTok music artist of 2020, following Sia, Iggy Azalea, and Mia Rodriguez. After the cover achieved one million plays, Kim Dracula uploaded a celebratory TikTok video with the caption “This is only the beginning “. The cover entered Spotify’s Global Viral 50 chart in January 2021, where it reached as high as number 4 on January 13. That same month, Kim Dracula debuted at number 47 on the Billboard Emerging Artists chart, with “Paparazzi” entering the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart at number 31.
By April 2021, “Paparazzi” had 13.4 million views on TikTok, 33 million views on YouTube, and 55 million streams on Spotify. Kim Dracula had also become the second most-followed Australian TikTok personality, with only Sia having more followers.
In 2022, Kim Dracula released two new singles, “Make Me Famous” and “Drown”, which were positively reviewed by Rock Sound magazine. The latter was described as “a barrage of sounds and styles…as weird as it is wonderful.”
