Geoffrey Arnold Beck was an English rock guitarist who started with the Yardbirds, then fronted the Jeff Beck Group and Beck, Bogert & Appice. He played different genres like; blues rock, hard rock and jazz. Sadly on 10 January 2023 the star passed away after suddenly contracting bacterial meningitis. Jeff was described as “one of the most influential lead guitarists in rock”, and ranked in the top five of Rolling Stone and other magazines’ lists of 100 greatest guitarists.
It was posted on his Instagram page: “On behalf of his family, it is with deep and profound sadness that we share the news of Jeff Beck’s passing. After suddenly contracting bacterial meningitis, he peacefully passed away yesterday. His family ask for privacy while they process this tremendous loss.”
Jeff recorded with many different artists and One of his final appearances was on Ozzy Osbourne’s new album Patient Number 9, where he played in “Patient Number 9” and “A Thousand Shades.”
Ozzy posted: “I can’t express how saddened I am to hear of @JeffBeckOfficial’s passing. What a terrible loss for his family, friends and his many fans. It was such an honor to have known Jeff and an incredible honor to have had him play on my most recent album, Patient Number 9. I’ll remember him fondly. Long live #JeffBeck.”
