Burton’s time with Metallica was short but highly influential. He appeared on the band’s first three studio albums, “Kill ‘Em All,” “Ride the Lightning,” and “Master of Puppets,” which are considered classic albums in the heavy metal genre. Burton’s bass playing on these albums was a major factor in their success and helped to establish him as one of the genre’s most respected musicians.
Tragically, Burton died in a bus accident while on tour with Metallica in 1986. He was only 24 years old at the time. Despite his short career, Burton left an indelible mark on the world of heavy metal and continues to be remembered and celebrated by fans and musicians alike.
